Rivet

The problem

A good four-bar motif rarely becomes a phrase on its own. Copying and varying it by hand gives loops, not a line that goes somewhere.

What Rivet does

• Lay out a storyboard of roles: statement, answer, departure, return, rest.
• Lock the notes, pitches or rhythms that define the motif; they survive into every block.
• Join seams with a cut, a breath, a pickup or an approach note.
• Audition with the internal voice or send MIDI to your synths, then export the phrase as MIDI.
